Protection

#ForGoodConnections Orange commits to protecting young people from online dangers
Screens are everywhere nowadays and have become an integral part of children’s lives from a very early age.
The digital world is a source of opportunities, a lever for education, entertainment and social connection.
But there are risks for young people: inappropriate content, violence, online bullying, excessive screen time, etc.
This is a reality. Therefore, it is important to learn the best possible way to use the internet and social media.

As a trusted partner, Orange gives everyone the keys to a responsible digital world.
In partnership with associations and experts, we have implemented a range of preventative and educational initiatives and tools to encourage young people to adopt best practices.
The issues covered include online bullying, data protection, screen time, critical thinking especially faced with artificial intelligence, etc. As a trusted operator, Orange’s role is to build a safer digital world.

Orange co-produced the Belgian film TKT, which aims to raise awareness among young people and their families about cyberbullying. This film, aimed at the general public, seeks to open up dialogue about this major societal problem. One in five young people in Belgium is affected.
              #ForGoodConnections Day
We organized a fun event for young people, combining sports and raising awareness of good digital practices, alongside the Liège Bastogne Liège cycling race.
Education

Digital inclusion also involves education and raising awareness.
At Orange, we support several concrete initiatives to promote digital learning from a very early age and for all audiences.
For example, thanks to our partnership with Library Without Borders (Bibliotèques Sans Frontières), we provide help to seniors via the Digital Buddies programme to enable them to gain autonomy in using digital tools.

We also offer programming initiation programmes for children through our partner CodeNPlay, to teach them the fundamentals on computational thinking. Lastly, with Tic Tac Lab, a FabLab dedicated to atypical children, we organise workshops in schools to promote their inclusion and well-being, by enabling them to co-design decors and participate in fun and educational activities.
These initiatives aim to make digital learning accessible, fun and adapted to everyone’s needs, accordingly contributing to building a more inclusive society where every individual can develop their skills, thrive and fully take part in social and economic life.

Employability

Despite progress, a significant share of the Belgian population continues to face difficulties in fully taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital society.
The digital divide, linked to a lack of skills or access to adapted tools, limits inclusion on the employment market. People with low qualifications or low income are particularly impacted, deepening social and professional inequalities.
To meet these challenges, Orange has launched several concrete initiatives: a partnership with BeCode to support tech training aimed at young people who are not in employment or training, an online NoCode course for all, as well as masterclasses and mentoring sessions. These initiatives aim to consolidate digital skills, promote inclusion on the employment market and give everyone the keys to adapt to the requirements of the digital market by enabling them to develop concrete skills that can be directly applied to their career path.

  BeCode
Orange Belgium partners with BeCode to support training and professional insertion in the digital and artificial intelligence fields. We back specialised AI courses offering talented individuals the opportunity to train on cutting-edge technologies. Moreover, we work on concrete use cases in the company, to promote practical application of the skills developed.
In the context of this partnership, an online MOOC training course on NoCode has been developed to make these skills accessible to a wide audience. We also organise hackathons to encourage innovation and team spirit.
Lastly, Orange Belgium shares its expertise through mentoring sessions and masterclasses focusing on the development of soft skills that are essential in a professional environment. This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to inclusive digital training adapted to current market needs.

  Entrepreneurship

The digital economy offers considerable potential for innovation and business creation, but the digital divide continues to limit many young people’s ability to realise their ideas.
Access to digital tools, creation spaces and training remains a challenge for a considerable share of the population, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds.
To drive digital entrepreneurship, Orange contributes to making free training available in a FabLab to help young people and project sponsors realise their personal or professional ideas. By offering free access to tools and creation spaces, we support the development of innovative, responsible and sustainable initiatives. These actions aim to give everyone the chance to develop their skills, test their ideas and build concrete projects, thereby promoting a more inclusive and connected economy.

  FabLab
Orange Belgium FabLab is a space dedicated to creativity, innovation and learning with a focus on digital technologies. Equipped with several cutting-edge digital machines, it offers the chance to discover and master various tools from prototyping to digital production.
We offer free training on how to use these tools and related software, thereby enabling everyone to develop technical skills. Every Thursday, FabLab opens its doors during the OpenLab session, providing free access to anyone who wants to work on a personal or collaborative project to come and use these tools.
FabLab also organises visits for public or private groups to introduce them to this innovative universe and raise awareness about the opportunities offered by digital production. Through this activity, Orange Belgium encourages experimentation, the sharing of know-how and the development of new ideas in a setting that is accessible to all.
