Mobistar complying with obligations under Telecom Law.

Back to news index

Brussels, 27 October 2006 - Mobistar does not feel concerned by Testaankoop's allegations that operators are infringing the Telecom Law on a massive scale. Mobistar offers free termination of contracts if the conditions are amended, asks customers for permission before using their data for marketing purposes, and makes social tariffs available for the less well-off. For its 'Tariff Check' and a telephone help desk, Mobistar even goes further than the law requires.

Mobistar informs its existing customers proactively, at least once a year, about the tariff package that they have chosen. The monthly invoice mentions that Mobistar has carried out a tariff simulation, and the customer is invited to find out the result by calling free phone number 5700. The customer then decides whether to adopt a different package or not. For new customers, Mobistar goes further. Within the first 6 months, they are contacted personally to carry out a 'Tariff Check' jointly. All Mobistar customers can ask for a free tariff check every month.

Mobistar listens to its customers. That is why the telephone helpdesk is accessible free of charge for all Mobistar customers. For non-Mobistar customers, the operator provides a number for which the cost per minute is no higher than a normal landline number.

In respect of other obligations, Mobistar complies with the legal requirements.

- a Mobistar customer can terminate their contract free of charge if the operator changes the terms and conditions of the contract;

- customer data is only used for marketing purposes if the customer agrees to this. Customers do this by accepting the general terms and conditions. They can "opt out" at any time;

- a social tariff has been offered by Mobistar since January 2006.

For more detailed information, customers can refer to the general and specific Mobistar terms and conditoins.
