Thousands of euros donated for biodiversity in Belgium

As part of our Orange Thank You loyalty programme, we offer customers the opportunity to convert their gift into a donation to a charity. On average, 1 in 5 customers choose to make a donation! Thank you for your generosity! These donations are distributed to support projects in Belgium, either related to the environment (Natuurpunt/Natagora) or related to digital inclusion (TADA).

We are delighted to be advancing side by side with you in our efforts to protect nature. More information about Natagora here

Orange Future Shop – A New Shopping Experience

In 2023, the Orange store located on Avenue Louise in Brussels was completely transformed into a Future Shop. An innovative, responsible, and accessible store for all. In this shop, the focus is on service, digital inclusion, and sustainability.

  • Service & Digital Inclusion: Free workshops—either in small groups or one-on-one—are organised and open to all, aimed at improving understanding of digital tools. Tablets are also available for customers to ask administrative questions.

  • Sustainability: The Future Shop reflects Orange's ambitions in terms of sustainable development: a wide range of initiatives related to the "re" program are organised there.

Orange's Re Program for Smartphones

Although we rarely think about it, smartphones have a significant ecological footprint. The main reason? The rare raw materials they contain. Additionally, 82% of the CO₂ emissions from our smartphones come from their production.

With the Re program, we offer 4 simple actions that are good for the planet... and for your wallet!

Repair

If a smartphone needs a little fix, its lifespan will be extended to the fullest thanks to the repair service available at Orange stores.

Resumption

By choosing Orange Trade-In, you're doing something good for your budget (thanks to the trade-in value of your smartphone) and for the planet. For every device traded in, we donate 2 euros to the Natagora association to support environmental protection in Belgium. The traded-in phones are then either recycled or refurbished.

Recycling

  • If the traded-in smartphones are not in good enough condition to be resold, we recycle them. That’s because they contain valuable and rare raw materials such as gold, copper, cobalt, and silver...

  • With the help of our partner, the Belgian non-profit Recupel, up to 90%* of these raw materials are recovered and reused as electronic components in new devices and cables.

Refurbished

  • We have two refurbished phone offers at Orange: our partner Recommerce's website offers 8,500 references including Apple, Samsung, etc. Orange also offers its own refurbished phones (Apple).

  • When it comes to refurbishing our phones, we use two partners: Back2Buzz and Recommerce. Back2Buzz is a Belgian company that refurbishes phones in Belgium. Recommerce is a French company that refurbishes phones in various European countries.

  • So, a used smartphone? No! Refurbished devices are tested, reset (100% of data is erased), and, if necessary, defective parts are repaired or replaced.

  • For refurbished phones, the battery is changed if it has a capacity of less than 85%, to ensure a good experience over time.

  • The devices are covered by a 2-year warranty.

  • Choosing a refurbished mobile phone therefore means limiting your environmental impact while acquiring a device that is like new at a lower cost.

Responsible Smartphones

Always seeking sustainable solutions, we are pleased and proud to offer smartphones in our range that are more responsible towards citizens, society, and the planet.
These Fairphones are made primarily of sustainable materials. All parts are easily replaceable to extend their lifespan. With a production chain that respects human rights.

Together, towards a more sustainable world.

An environmental score for our smartphones

59/100 or 84/100? This is the type of Eco Rating that is now displayed alongside the other features of our smartphones. This score out of 100 is calculated based on the sustainability of materials, recycling, transportation, packaging, and more. In total, 19 criteria have been aggregated and weighted as part of an international label. And the higher the score, the better the device's environmental performance. It's transparent for you, our suppliers, and us. And it can help you make responsible choices.

Recupel collection bins

In every Orange store, you'll find a Recupel collection bin where you can drop off all small electrical appliances for recycling.
