Brussels, 27 July 2011 – Mobistar today announces that Benoit Scheen has been appointed Executive Vice President of Europe (excluding France) by the Board of Directors of France Télécom-Orange. In this role, Benoit Scheen will be part of the Group’s Executive Committee and report directly to the chairman Stéphane Richard. He will take up his new responsibilities as from September 1st 2011. Until then he remains CEO of Mobistar.
“Benoit Scheen started his career at Mobistar in November 2005 as Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Executive Committee. He became the first Belgian Chief Executive Officer of the listed company Mobistar on January 1st 2008. In a very mature and competitive Belgian telecommunication market, Mobistar became a full convergent operator under his leadership. He also achieved good results on the Luxembourg market. The rich experience Benoit has gained in the IT and telecommunication sector, his management success and his personal drive, convinced France Télécom-Orange in their decision” says Jan Steyaert, President of the Board of Directors Mobistar.
The President and the independent members of the Board of Directors of Mobistar are honored with the entry of Benoit Scheen as first Belgian to the Executive Committee of France Télécom-Orange. This nomination demonstrates the recognition for a good governance of a talented manager. Benoit Scheen will remain member of the Board of Directors of Mobistar and as Executive Vice President of Europe will still be involved in the strategic decisions Mobistar will have to take in the future.
Benoit Scheen will take up his role as Executive Vice President of Europe within France Télécom-Orange as from September 1st 2011. He will be responsible for 38,000 employees and a total revenue of 12.5 billion euros generated by 60 million customers.
The Remuneration Committee will look after the nomination of a new CEO for Mobistar. As from September and until the new appointment, Werner De Laet, Chief Financial Officer of Mobistar, will be acting CEO.
