Mobistar’s new ‘animal’ tariff plans are even better adapted to customer needs and cheaper

In April 2012, Mobistar launched innovative mobile subscriptions based on segmentation by animal names. With these rates, customers can choose the offer that best suits their mobile lifestyle and which gives them control over their consumption, in Belgium and abroad. The concept became a huge success. Only eight months after launch, 43% of residential Mobistar subscribers had already chosen an ‘animal’ subscription. Mobistar estimates that this figure may even reach 80% by the end of 2013.

After the success of these innovative tariff plans, Mobistar decided to extend the animal-based segmentation to prepaid cards and to further simplify existing subscriptions and adapt them to evolving customer needs even better. From now on, all Mobistar customers can benefit from the advantages of the ‘animal’ tariff plans: the comfort and peace of mind of a subscription or the control and freedom of a prepaid card. Moreover, all Mobistar customers who spend 25 euros a month can make unlimited phone calls for free to 3.5 million Mobistar customers at any time of the day. That is a huge advantage because about 50% of all calls from Mobistar customers today are made to other Mobistar customers. To inform subscribers about the fact that they are calling another Mobistar customer, they automatically hear a ‘beep’ at the beginning of the call. Prepaid customers can activate this ‘beep’ by calling 1299.


Three new ‘animal’ plans for prepaid cards

From now on, prepaid clients can choose between 3 new formulas: Squirrel, Kangaroo and Dolphin, each of them adapted to specific client needs with a series of extra advantages. In addition, Mobistar puts an end to the difference between peak and off-peak hours, access to mobile Internet is blocked for customers who choose a prepaid card with no surf volume included, and customers who have a prepaid card with surf volume are notified via SMS as soon as their limit is reached. This innovation is a première in terms of prepaid cards on the Belgian market. Customers who reload for 25 euros or more can now also make unlimited calls for free to 3,500,000 Mobistar customers at any time.

- Squirrel is the rate plan for customers who don’t reload their card every month. As of now, bonuses received by the customers each time they reload will remain valid for one year, while the price per minute is economical.
- Kangaroo offers lots of texts and call minutes, also with every reload.
- Dolphin is for people who cannot live without text messages and mobile Internet. Each time they reload, they receive extra text messages, unlimited access to Facebook and Twitter and extra MB.

During the month of April, existing prepaid customers will receive an email or text message with information about the launch of these new tariff plans and can benefit from a free migration to one of the three new formulas by entering the code #121# and following the instructions in the menu.

‘Animal’ subscriptions are even more competitive and simple

Based on the feedback from customers who have an ‘animal’ tariff plan, Mobistar has been able to further refine its different user profiles. Because not everyone has the same needs or habits, Mobistar decided to adapt its ‘animal’ subscriptions to the evolving needs of its customers.

The number of tariff plans has been reduced to 3 animals and each plan has become more comprehensive and competitive: (details in the table below)
- Squirrel subscriptions disappear
- The new Kangaroo subscriptions cover more call minutes and many more text messages
- The new Dolphin and Panther subscriptions cover more call minutes, but also much larger data volume
- A new Dolphin subscription at very competitive conditions is available as of April 18th through the web
- Subscribers spending 25 euros or more per month can make unlimited phone calls for free to 3.5 million Mobistar customers at any time of the day.

Advantages for existing customers
Mobistar not only offers the best conditions to new customers, but also gives all existing customers the opportunity to switch to the latest rate plans.
The existing ‘animal’ subscribers whose tariff formula has changed (Kangaroo 20 and Unlimited, Dolphin 15 and Panther 45 and Unlimited) will automatically enjoy the new advantages of these formulas. Customers with an ‘animal’ subscription that has not been adapted retain their current tariff plan.

To make sure that all customers have the tariff plan that best suits their needs, Mobistar contacts its residential subscribers every 6 months for a ‘Personal Check Up’. Customers can of course always contact the Mobistar customer service for an analysis of their invoice and to get tariff plan advice.
