Dynamic and tailor made mobile portal
Brussels, 12 July 2007 - Mobistar is giving Orange World a new look for its third birthday. The brand new interface to the multimedia portal has been completely made to meet the needs and desires of the customers. The Orange World home page of each customer will adjust itself automatically to the customers' usage pattern, and offer direct access to the most frequently used services. The different mobile portal categories are shown with icons and include new services. Each time a Mobistar customer makes a connection, he or she will see a 'new' home page.
A survey by Mobistar on Orange World into the requirements of the users of the mobile portal showed not only that customers are looking for simplicity and user-friendliness, but also that they want to be able to express their preferences about the content of the mobile portal. "Mobistar customers clearly want to be part of the evolution of the mobile portal. That became apparent from the numerous answers we received. The new multimedia portal meets those needs completely with a dynamic mobile portal. This differentiates us from most of the static portal sites, which have pre-selected news items and services," according to Laurent Willen, Mobistar product manager.
A new interface
The consumer's choice is the central feature of the renewal process of Orange World. Users get complete control over their personalised Orange World. The new interface makes it possible for the home page to adapt itself automatically to the customers' usage. Within the different categories - shown by separate icons - the two most frequently used services are shown automatically on the home page, making it easier for the customer to find the information he or she is looking for.
New services
Orange World now also offers RSS feeds and time-relevant information. Customers can subscribe, at no charge, for RSS feeds from providers such as De Standaard, La Dernière Heure, the weather report and stock market information. The two most frequently used RSS feeds are available immediately from the home page. Thanks to time-relevant news items, Mobistar customers can, for example, receive traffic information during rush hour, financial information when the stock exchange opens, or an overview of the new cinema releases on Wednesday.
The Orange World home page now also includes a search engine supported by Microsoft, that not only gives access to all of the content on Orange World, but also links to all Internet sites related to the keywords.
Mobile television is now offered with better picture quality for customers with third generation mobile phones. The service has also been expanded with new channels and new functions, such as mosaic, zapping, and pre-visualisation.
Looking into the future, Orange World will offer even more potential in the area of information based on the customers' profile.
