Mobistar is celebrating the first anniversary of its 4G network with rewards for its clients

  • Launched in March 2014, Mobistar’s 4G network today offers the best coverage, both inside and outside buildings: 91% of the Belgian population has access to Mobistar’s 4G network, including 99% of the population in Brussels;
  • A recent study by the independent survey bureau Commsquare confirmed the superiority of Mobistar’s 4G network coverage;
  • Network development continues and 4G coverage will reach 99% by the end of 2015;
  • To celebrate its anniversary, Mobistar is rewarding all its 4G residential clients by offering them mobile data volume.

 

Mobistar’s 4G network made its commercial debut at the end of March 2014. At that time, it covered 50% of the Belgian population. Favoring uniform coverage to ensure service continuity, new cities were quickly added. Mobistar’s 4G coverage rate has grown steadily to become Belgium's largest 4G network.

A recent study by the Commsquare(1) bureau confirmed Mobistar’s leading position in terms of 4G coverage, both inside and outside buildings.

 

Strong increase in mobile data traffic

Mobile data users are massively using Mobistar’s 4G network. Thanks to new possibilities offered by this technology, there’s been a strong increase in traffic:

  • In 2014, mobile data volume on the Mobistar network multiplied by 2.5
  • Today, more than 35% of the traffic goes through the 4G network
  • More than 500,000 Mobistar clients now use the 4G network

 

 

Objective: 99% of 4G coverage by the end of 2015

Mobistar continues to invest massively in its network to maintain its 4G leadership.

 

In 2015, more than 150 million euros will be invested in order to:

-  continue to expand 4G coverage to reach 99% of the Belgian population by the end of the year;

-  continue optimizing network performance and

-  increase upload/download speeds by combining 800 and 1800 MHz technologies.

 

 

Mobistar thanks its customers

Mobistar would like to thank all its 4G residential customers for their trust in the context of its 'Have a nice day' loyalty program. Customers who have already used Mobistar’s 4G network will be contacted individually by SMS or e-mail and will be rewarded with 500MB of free mobile data volume, or another gift. This will also apply to all customers who become 4G users as of today.
