Commercial news Orange Belgium expands cybersecurity offering with Cyber Protection for smaller companies

17/08/2026

From ransomware attacks to online fraud, cyber incidents make the headlines almost every week, and large companies are far from the only targets. The number of cyber-extortion victims worldwide rose by 44.5% in 2025, with small and medium-sized enterprises accounting for two-thirds of affected organisations. To help smaller businesses strengthen their defences, Orange Belgium is launching Cyber Protection, a managed cybersecurity solution for small & medium-sized companies with up to 30 employees. The service protects their computers around the clock by combining AI-powered threat detection with support from Orange Cyberdefense experts.

Around 100 ransomware attacks are reported in Belgium each year, and the consequences can last much longer than the attack itself: IT systems remain offline for an average of 21 days. These attacks are not limited to large corporations. Research by Orange Cyberdefense shows that attacks on small businesses rose by 53% in one year, while medium-sized businesses saw a 52% increase. In response, nearly 44% of companies have increased their cybersecurity budgets. With end-user devices and servers accounting for 54% of affected assets, the computers people rely on every day remain a critical line of defence. For many SMEs, the challenge is not recognising the risk but having access to affordable cybersecurity expertise.

24/7 protection without the need for an in-house security team
Following the launch of Dynamic SOC in April 2025, Orange Belgium is extending its cybersecurity portfolio to smaller organisations. Cyber Protection is a managed Endpoint Detection and Response solution designed for small office/home office businesses and small to medium-sized companies, meaning they benefit from enterprise-grade monitoring without having to manage the security themselves. It protects up to 30 Windows and macOS devices 24/7 and monitors activity in real time. Unlike traditional antivirus software, which mainly detects known threats, Cyber Protection combines AI-driven behavioural analysis with expert monitoring to detect both known and previously unseen attacks.

When the system identifies suspicious activity, it can automatically block or isolate the affected file to help prevent a threat from spreading. Users can follow the status of every protected device, detected threat and quarantined file through a real-time dashboard and receive alerts when an event requires attention. Orange Cyberdefense experts analyse alerts around the clock and can block threats proactively, giving smaller companies access to continuous monitoring without requiring them to build a Security Operations Centre (SOC) of their own.

Cyber Protection works continuously in the background, allowing business owners to focus on running their business rather than monitoring cyber threats.

Protection that supports compliance
In addition to protecting against cyber threats, Cyber Protection helps businesses meet key regulatory requirements. The solution supports compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) by enabling rapid detection and response to potential data breaches, and by providing detailed incident logs for investigation and reporting. It also aligns with the new NIS2 Directive, which requires organizations to implement robust cybersecurity measures, including continuous monitoring and timely incident reporting. By integrating Cyber Protection, small businesses can strengthen their security posture while supporting their legal obligations under European regulations.

Werner De Laet, Chief Enterprise Officer at Orange Belgium: “Small businesses often depend on a limited number of devices, but that does not make the consequences of an attack any smaller. One compromised computer can interrupt daily operations, expose sensitive information or cut a company off from the tools it needs to serve its customers. At the same time, many entrepreneurs do not have a cybersecurity specialist on staff. They need protection that works continuously, keeps them informed and brings in expert support when it matters most. With Cyber Protection and the support from Orange Cyberdefense, we want to make that level of security more accessible, so business owners can focus on their work without having to become cybersecurity experts themselves.”

Cyber Protection makes enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to even the smallest businesses. Installation takes only a few minutes through the Orange Cyberdefense portal, making the solution easy to deploy even without dedicated IT resources. Cyber Protection is available from 17 August 2026, with monthly plans ranging from €6 for one computer to €126 for 30 computers, excluding VAT.
