Thanks to a secured backup solution, personal contact details of Mobistar customers never get lost again
Brussels, 23 Augustus 2007 - Today, Mobistar is the first operator to launch ContactSave in Belgium. This innovative service, which was developed by Gemalto for Mobistar, makes it possible to save all contact details from the SIM card safely on an backup server. This allows Mobistar customers to safeguard their contact details and recover them in case of loss or theft of their mobile phone. The stored data can be uploaded/downloaded at any time. To use ContactSave, Mobistar customers require a new 128k SIM card. These new SIM cards with ContactSave are freely available at the Mobistar Centers.
Mobistar launches the ContactSave application as a first on the market. The application was developed by Gemalto, world leader in digital security and supplier of the Mobistar SIM cards since 1996. Thanks to a secured backup system, prepaid and postpaid customers can save the contact details of their 128k SIM card on a backup server. The customer's contact details will be stored on the server for as long as the customer has a Mobistar account.
Mobistar is constantly innovating to better meet customer needs and to increase their user comfort. Mobile users are very attached to their contact details and rely heavily on them. In case of theft or loss, the loss of contact numbers is often the biggest inconvencience. ContactSave is the solution for this problem.
A Mobistar customer who uses the new 128k SIM card with ContactSave puts his contact details in storage and will never again risk losing them. ContactSave guarantees that Mobistar customers can retrieve their personal mobile contact details through synchronisation with the server, on the condition the data are saved on the SIM card and not in the mobile phone's memory.
Apart from m-banxafe, the new 128k SIM with ContactSave also has more memory. Customers with a 3G mobile phone can save up to 350 contacts on their 128k SIM card, or 250 contacts on a 2G mobile phone with the new SIM card. Via ContactSave, all these contacts are saved on a backup server. The synchronisation between the SIM application and the server is done manually via the mobile menu 'Applications/M-services/M-contacts' and lasts less then one second per contact. Each synchronisation of the contacts with the server costs 0.75 euro, and can be done at any given time.
Residential customers can get a new Mobistar SIM card with ContactSave for free at the Mobistar Centers. The business customers can address their fleet manager.
