Barcelona, 13 February 2006 - Mobistar is launching the first mobile application Web portal especially dedicated to SME. The applications selected by the Orange Group and Mobistar among specialized providers allow the company's employees to carry out everyday operations using their mobile telephone or their pocket computer.
Mobility plays an important role in most small and medium-sized enterprises. However, these rarely have the necessary time and resources to develop or to access applications that allow them to increase the productivity and the effectiveness of their mobile employees (sales force, technicians, drivers, international functions, etc.).
The platform, whose base was developed within the Orange Group, is implemented in Belgium by Mobistar. It contains around ten applications, selected for their speed of installation, their simplicity, their relevance to the needs of SME and their reliability. These applications, which can be accessed on-line via the portal and downloaded to mobile telephones, are invoiced monthly or once during downloading, depending on each particular case.
New applications will constantly be added to the portal which is designed to evolve in line with use, the needs of the customers and the evolution in the range of available products. It is organized into eight categories, each of which corresponds to the main concerns of the SME in terms of mobility:
The Mobistar mobile application portal is accessible on the site www.mobistar.be/applicationshowcase. After a straightforward registration, the user will be granted direct access to the site of the provider in question. His order is confirmed via an SMS that contains a link allowing the chosen application to be downloaded.
