Orange Belgium goes beyond EU-roaming regulation by offering all Orange customers ‘roam like at home’ and unlimited calling for families in 39 countries & territories

Back to news index

As from 15 June 2017, the EU roaming regulation will be implemented and will allow travelling EU citizens to call, SMS and surf without surcharges in the 28 European Union countries + Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

Roam like at home for all Orange customers in the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and 8 other destinations

Four days earlier, as from 11 June, all Orange Belgium tariff plans will be adapted and Orange customers will be able to use their call minutes, mobile data volume and SMS from their bundle when roaming, just like if they were in Belgium. Should they go out of bundle, national tariffs will apply.

Orange goes even further by extending the same advantage to its customers in 8 extra territories: Monaco, St-Barth, Vatican, San Marino, North of Cyprus, Jersey, the Isle of Man and Guernsey. This means that Orange customers can stay connected anywhere anytime just like at home at no extra cost when travelling to in total 39 European countries and territories.

Unlimited calls within the same family & free access and usage of Orange Cloud

Thanks to Orange Circle, the members of a same family (on the same bill) can call each other unlimited at no extra costs when roaming in those 39 destinations, just like when they are in Belgium.

Moreover, Orange customers who have 16GB to 500GB (depending on their mobile subscription) free storage in the Orange Cloud can access and use their Orange Cloud in the EU-zone as well, free of charge (just like if they were in Belgium). So holiday pictures and videos will be safely stored and ready to be shared with friends and family.

Cristina Zanchi, Chief Consumer Officer, explains: “This summer, when travelling in the European Union countries, you will no longer have to search for a Wi-Fi-connection at airports or in your hotel to check your email, post on social media or look for the nearest restaurant. You can just use your phone as comfortably as if you were in Belgium. And because we invest where it matters for our customers, we added a number of other destinations our customers like to visit to that EU-list so going on holiday really is synonymous with having fun and relaxation.”

This important change will be automatically activated for all Orange customers (they have nothing to do) and implemented for all prepaid, ZEN, postpaid and Internet Everywhere Orange tariff plans (old and new).

Carefree roaming bundle for frequent travelers

Orange also offers a Traveler roaming bundle for frequent travelers who need more call time or mobile data volume abroad than included in their bundle. The roaming bundle contains call minutes, SMS volume and mobile data and is available in the form of a pass or can be  bought via a monthly fee.

Peace of mind

Orange helps its customers to monitor their usage when they roam in order to avoid bad surprises:

  • Easy following of mobile usage in the My Orange app;

  • SMS alerts are sent when a customer with a subscription reaches 80% and 100% of its data bundle;

  • A user is blocked when reaching 60€ surf volume outside of his bundle, by default. Customers can continue to surf by purchasing a top up or they can adjust the limit (0 – 500€) thanks to the Travel Data Control option (available via My Orange app, customer zone or in shops).

As from today Orange residential customers are informed of the new roaming conditions, traveler zones and options that will be effective as from 11 June 2017 via direct mailing, SMS, letters, through their invoice and via a dedicated webpage: www.orange.be/byebyeroaming.

The EU roaming regulation also affects Orange business offers. Orange business customers will be informed in the coming weeks.
