Brussels, 30 August 2006 - Mobistar and Delhaize announced a new partnership today. The cooperation with Delhaize enables the telecom operator to further expand its offer and its distribution channels. Together they are launching Mobile Plus powered by Mobistar, the cheapest prepaid starter kit on the market, on 31 Augustus 2006.
Mobistar is further expanding its strategy of partnerships. After Telenet and Universal Mobile, today Mobistar is announcing a new cooperation agreement with the Delhaize supermarket chain. "This co-marketing agreement places us in a stronger position as a telecom operator and enables us to increase our market share in an increasingly competitive distribution environment", states Bernard Moschéni, Chief Executive Officer of Mobistar.
Mobile Plus powered by Mobistar will be available in 650 stores of the Delhaize group* as of 31 Augustus 2006. The starter kit with SIM card costs EUR 8.00 or a Delhaize coupon worth EUR 5.00, and contains EUR 3.00 of call credit. With Mobile Plus powered by Mobistar calls can be made at EUR 0.20/minute and sending an SMS costs EUR 0.10, at any time to any network. Customers can make international calls at Mobistar prepaid rates and also keep their number. They can address their questions to Mobistar customer service. Recharging tickets worth EUR 5.00 and EUR 15.00 will be available in the Delhaize stores. Customers will receive extra Delhaize plus points for every reload purchase. "With this rechargeable prepaid card customers benefit from clear, low prices and an excellent network," comments Bernard Moschéni further.
The choice of Delhaize as partner is completely in line with the strategy and the vision of Mobistar. Delhaize is the second largest retail group in Belgium (822 points of sale) with strong national brands and own brands, a clear quality image and loyal customers.
