Brussels, the 6th of July 2005 - Mobistar is today launching a pilot TV on Mobile project after signing a contract with Belgian Business Television, producer of the Canal Z and Kanaal Z programmes. Users also have the possibility of downloading video flashes containing national, international, sports, cultural and offbeat news items.
Economic and political news broadcast live
Having concluded an agreement with Belgian Business Television, Mobistar users with an 'EDGE compatible' mobile phone (available in packs from the 18th of July onwards) can now access the Canal Z / Kanaal Z channels via their mobile phone anywhere in Belgium as long as it is covered by EDGE technology. The cities of Brussels and Antwerp already enjoy extensive coverage. The EDGE network, which will soon be extended to other large cities such as Liège, Charleroi and Gent, should be accessible to 99% of the population between now and the end of the year.
During the pilot phase, from the 1st of July to the 30th of September 2005, Mobistar subscribers who have activated their access to the 'Orange World' portal (free access during July - 0.5€ per session or packages of between 6€ and 15€ per month outside the offer period) have the possibility of testing live broadcast television free of charge for one hour a month. All they have to do is call customer service to activate the TV/Video service.
Download the highlights of the Tour de France
The 'Orange World' portal also offers users (subscribers and prepaid card users) the possibility of downloading video flashes of national, international, sports, cultural and offbeat news items. These flashes are continually updated (15 flashes a day on weekdays, 10 flashes a day on weekends). Every day, fans of the 'Tour de France' can also download the four highlights of the day onto their mobile phone!
