Year on year Orange sees the number of SMS and calls declining when people wish their loved ones a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Customers prefer to communicate via their social media channels via funny pictures and party movies to let friends and family know what they have for dinner, the presents they receive and where they celebrate. Last week Orange noted an increase of 60% of mobile data usage (vs last year during Christmas eve). Last year mobile data went up with 165% (vs the year before) on December 31 2015, just before 2016 started.
Therefore Orange, who wants to connect its customers to what’s essential to them, decided to surprise its residential customers who have a subscription with a little new year’s gift: Orange will not charge the usage of national mobile data from Saturday 31/12/2016 22h00 until the first of January 2017 24h00. That means that these customers can enjoy wishing everyone a happy new year for 26 hours, carefree, via social media, messenger apps and e-mail.
Orange wishes all its customers a wonderful end of year and all the best for 2017.
