Orange Belgium and KPN will investigate how 5G technology can accelerate the further digitalization of one of Europe's most important waterways. To this end, it submitted a grant application to the European Commission. Today, Petra De Sutter, Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, Public Enterprises, Telecommunications and Post, presented the projects that were held back by Europe. And the "5G Estuary" - the Belgium-Netherlands waterway corridor study by Orange Belgium and KPN, is one of them.
Orange Belgium is deploying a 5G stand-alone core network on a cloud-native architecture together with its partners Ericsson, Nokia and Oracle, allowing virtualized end-to-end networks and combining the best of technical, IT and data management solutions. Together they show the full potential of 5G while investing in next-generation services.
As of today, Orange Belgium’s b-brand hey! becomes the proud sponsor of football club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (USG). Tonight, hey! will make its first appearance as sponsor of the USG players in the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against Scotland’s Rangers FC.
In May 2022, Orange Belgium expanded the Orange Thank You loyalty program, enabling customers to donate the value of their loyalty gifts to organizations that support sustainable practices and promote digital and social inclusion. This campaign successfully raised a total of €265,444 for local charities Natuurpunt, Natagora and ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir (TADA). Meanwhile, Orange Belgium earned the CO2Neutral label for the 9th year in a row.
To help reduce the digital divide, Orange Belgium today opened an Orange Digital Center in the heart of Brussels, in the presence of Petra De Sutter, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, Public Enterprises, Telecommunication and the Postal Services and Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière, Deputy CEO of Orange Group, in charge of Orange’s operational activities in Europe.
Orange Belgium obtained the maximum amount of key 5G spectrum available in the auction, allowing it to provide outstanding coverage and capacity for future 5G services.
Furthermore, it announces the phasing out of 3G services from mid-2023
On March 21, registrations will open for the 5th season of the Orange Fab BeLux start-up Accelerator Program. Three selected start-ups will receive support from Orange experts and access to the operator's network for six months.
