Brussels, 23 September 2014 – From now on, all you need to buy games, films or music on Sony Entertainment Network and in the PlayStation®Store is your mobile phone. Starting today, PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®4 (PS4™) users who are also Mobistar customers can pay the purchased content via their mobile phone invoice or have the charges deducted from the balance on their prepaid card. Mobistar is the first Belgian mobile operator to offer this simple and secure payment method facilitating the purchase of content.
Till now, customers looking to buy films, music or games via Sony Entertainment Network or the PlayStation®Store had to enter a credit card number or to use a prepaid card. However, just one in three Belgian consumers own a credit card. As a result, this new payment method introduced by Sony today in collaboration with Mobistar is hugely important.
Sony added a new payment option to its menu. ‘Uploading funds to the e-wallet via mobile invoicing’ is now possible via the PlayStation®Store of PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PlayStation®4 (PS4™). Mobistar customers who are also Sony PlayStation® users must check ‘mobile’ as their mode of payment, enter their mobile phone number and confirm the uploaded amount via text message. The credited amount is included on their next mobile phone invoice or deducted from the balance on their prepaid card. The mobile payments are processed by Boku, making the whole process easier and allowing users to download content from the PlayStation®Store and Sony Entertainment Network at their leisure.
Since last year, Mobistar customers can pay their applications or games via their mobile phone invoice; this is the case for both Android phone users (Google Play™) and Windows Phone users. The new mode of payment is very popular.
