Mobistar kondigt de implementatie van de EDGE-technologie (Enhanced Data for Global Evolution) in zijn hele netwerk aan. Met deze oplossing kan de operator de GPRS-transmissiesnelheid drie tot vier keer verhogen zonder de netwerkinfrastructuur te wijzigen. De Mobistar-gebruikers kunnen in het begin van de zomer al van de voordelen van EDGE profiteren.

Brussels, 16 June 2004 - From July 1st, Mobistar customers will be able to benefit from a new service which is the result of cooperation between Mobistar and the Orange Group. After the launch in Belgium of SPV, the first terminal incorporating a Microsoft Windows interface, after the Mobile Office Card for the Business market, now there is Orange World, the multimedia experience from Mobistar. Orange World enables Mobistar customers to use their mobile phone to access a whole range of services and information.

Mobistar is één van de eerste operatoren die de ontbundeling van de lokale lus gebruikt om zijn Business-klanten SDSL-diensten aan te bieden. SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is een methode voor datatransmissie die een identiek debiet in beide richtingen garandeert (van 144 Kbit/seconde tot 2,3 Mbit/seconde), van de gebruiker naar de netwerkinfrastructuur en omgekeerd. Met SDSL kan er een point-to-point verbinding gemaakt worden met de geografische sites van de klant door gebruik te maken van 2 klassieke telefoondraden van de historische operator.
