Brussels, 23 July 2012 - Mobistar is investing in the technology of the future and starting to roll out 4G, the fourth generation mobile network. This technology speeds up Internet usage via smartphones and tablets by a factor of 8 to 10. It is a mobile technology that makes a wireless network so powerful that mobile data traffic can match the top speeds of a fixed broadband connection.
In 2011, the number of complaints about Mobistar filed with the mediation service for telecommunications went up by 15%. But these figures do not reflect the current situation: since then, Mobistar has taken several initiatives to improve the customer experience.
Mobistar is the first company in Belgium to propose to its employees a separate list made up entirely of electric and hybrid company cars, in addition to a conventional list. This represents yet another stage in the ambitious mobility policy that Mobistar has been implementing for several years now, with the objective of cutting its carbon emissions in half between today and 2020. In the shorter term, Mobistar´s ambition is for hybrid and electric cars to represent 5% of its fleet of company cars between now and the end of next year.
Lots of customers still hesitate to use the Internet on their mobile phone or tablet abroad as they have no view on what it will cost them. Travel Data Control clears Mobistar customers of that worry: he or she sets his or her own maximum budget for mobile data use abroad. Once this limit has been reached, surfing is blocked. Further good news: the Travel Data Daily formulas from Mobistar will become even more advantageous as from 1st July. Also as of that date, these formulas are extended to 4 more countries: Morocco, Turkey, Croatia and Egypt.
Bart De Groote is Mobistar’s new Chief Consumer Marketing Officer. He joined Mobistar in 1998, then he climbed the ladder of the marketing department of the company in recent years. His main task will be to accelerate the growth of Mobistar on the residential market.

Mobistar and Telenet today announced the extension of their strategic partnership. Both parties will continue the Full MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) agreement until 2017. With this contract, Telenet can expand their offer for mobile voice and data further by making use of Mobistar’s mobile network. Through a partnership with Telenet, Tecteo (VOO) will also be able to make use of this Full MVNO agreement to provide mobile services for their permanent clients.
