Brussels Minister for the Environment, Evelyne Huytebroeck, and the mobile operators affiliated with the GSM Operators' Forum have agreed on a framework for the implementation of the Brussels standard of 3 volts/meter, fixed by the Ordinance of 1 March 2007 regarding the "protection of the environment against potential harmful effects and inconveniences caused by non-ionizing radiations".

Mobistar network smoothly delivers 23.6 million text messages on New Year's Eve

Brussels, 1 January 2009 - People increasingly choose to send their New Year’s wishes by text message at the end of the year. This year, Mobistar customers sent a total of 23.6 million SMS’s between Dec. 31 8 p.m. and Jan. 1 8 a.m. In order to accommodate the rise in network traffic, Mobistar raised the capacity of its SMS server and also installed a buffer system.

Mobistar closes its share buy back programme and cancels its own shares

Mobistar completed its share buy back programme for a total value of 175 million euros, equivalent to 3,277,338 shares, on 27th November 2008. To re-cap, 1,291,752 shares were bought prior to the GM of 7th May 2008 and cancelled by this GM. These shares were acquired for a total of 73.7 million euros.

No tacit extension of Mobistar's 2G licence

Extension until 2013 announced
Brussels, 5th December 2008. - The BIPT (Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications) and the Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne, have informed Mobistar that there will be no tacit extension of its 2G licence in the two years leading up to the initially agreed date of 27 November 2010.
