The Board of Directors of Orange Belgium has decided to appoint Michaël Trabbia to the position of CEO as from September 1st 2016.

With his engineering education and a rich and varied career of 15 years, Michaël Trabbia has an excellent understanding of the telecom sector and its environment. Recognized for his managerial qualities, he has strong strategic expertise and extensive experience in stakeholder relations.

Jean Marc Harion, currently CEO of Orange Belgium, will leave office on August 31, 2016 and is thought of as a possible CEO of Orange Egypt. The President of the Board will gather the Board of Directors shortly to appoint a new CEO for the company.

• Orange covers 47% of the population with 4G+ and progressively rolls out the technology on a national level.

• Orange is making 4G+ technology available on >25 events and festivals this summer.

• 4G capacity will also be doubled for those events and festivals to allow all Orange customers to stay connected to what is essential to them when enjoying their favourite bands.

Ever since its inception 20 years ago, Mobistar has continued to democratize and revolutionize the mobile market in Belgium. Mobistar, for example, was the first to introduce prepaid cards and open up a 4G network. The company recently launched an alternative TV and Internet offer over cable networks.

Today, Mobistar gives way to Orange. This change will allow the company to continue to democratize and revolutionize the telecommunications market.

Brussels, 14 April 2016 – Mobistar and Cropland are collaborating in commission of and with Antwerp´s city council to ensure the security of events and optimise the functioning of several Antwerp municipal departments. The new big data applications that the two players are implementing in 2016 will significantly improve the day-to-day functioning of the City of Antwerp, especially during the organisation of large-scale events.

• The transition will begin soon and will be carried out gradually;

• Customers don’t have to do anything and nothing will change for them when the Orange brand arrives on the Belgian market.

Brussels, 4 February 2016 – As proposed by the management team, Mobistar’s Board of Directors has decided in favour of adopting the Orange brand in Belgium.

For the past few years, Mobistar has conducted several in-depth analyses regarding the opportunity of replacing the Mobistar brand with the Orange brand. The analysis of the Belgian market evolution carried out in 2015 led the management team to propose this change of brand to the Board of Directors.

Mobistar and Orange Luxembourg today are launching an innovation on their network allowing all of their customers travelling back and forth between Belgium and Luxembourg to cross the border and keep and excellent voice call conversation when crossing the border. A very handy service for commuters and travellers who will see their mobile voice calling comfort improve significantly. Moreover, Mobistar and Orange Luxembourg are the first operators in Europe to offer this feature to their customers.  

Brussels, 12 November – Mobistar has partnered up with SOFICO to further develop its fibre network in the south of Belgium. This long-term partnership will generate extra capacity for Mobistar’s mobile network and also translates into extra investments in the Walloon region.

Brussels, November 5 – The federal telecom regulator (IBPT) has published the new coverage maps for mobile operators. The map comparison tool confirms the superiority of Mobistar’s 4G network, both in terms of percentage of the population and geographic zones covered.

In order to provide an objective overview of the quality of mobile network coverage, the telecom regulator (IBPT) has developed a tool to visualize coverage quality. The maps used are provided by the mobile operators and have been field-checked by the regulator.
