Mobistar launches 1617, the prepaid card offering the cheapest tariffs for international calls

Brussels, 18 July 2014 – Today, Mobistar is launching 1617, a new prepaid formula especially adapted to foreigners living in Belgium who often communicate with friends and families in their country of origin. The 1617 prepaid formula has the cheapest tariffs for international calls thanks to the partnership with Core, a British company specialising in international mobile telecommunications. 1617 also offers customers very inexpensive calls, text messages and mobile data within Belgium. The new prepaid card is available in the Mobistar shops and the Mobistar retail partners. The 1617 card will be available in the on line shop at the end of the summer.

Mobistar appoints Jérémie Dutray as Chief Operating Officer

Brussels, July 7th, 2014 – Mobistar’s Board of Directors has appointed Jérémie Dutray as Chief Operating Officer. Active since 2010 in the Orange group, he was working until now as Chief of Staff for Stéphane Richard. Alongside Mobistar CEO, Jean Marc Harion, Jérémie will be in charge of finalising the company’s transformation, coordinating transverse operations and developing new growth activities. Jérémie will take office at Mobistar on September 1st, 2014.

Brussels, 11th June 2014 – Mobistar commits to protecting children using mobile internet with a dedicated programme and the offer of a parental control application in partnership with Symantec and its Norton Family solution. These actions provide parents with the necessary information and tools for stimulating dialogue with their children and protecting them when they are browsing the internet on their smartphones. Through these actions Mobistar is contributing to the European Commission’s aim to create a safer internet environment for children.

Mobistar customers now receiving full warranty during second year

Brussels, 23 May 2014 – Mobistar has announced today that from 2 June 2014, all its customers will receive full warranty on all devices (including iPhones and iPads) purchased at the @Mobistar and online shops during the second year. Mobistar made this decision to meet the expectations of its customers and the consumer organisations, even though Mobistar has always been compliant with the warranty laws in the past. It is Mobistar’s opinion that its customers should not be penalised by the fact that some manufacturers apply the law very strictly and charge the customers or operators for the statutory warranty during the second year. In its commitment to provide the best customer service, Mobistar wants to make this additional gesture to all customers of the @Mobistar and online shops from 2 June.

Mobistar opens its first shop of the future in Flanders in Antwerp

Brussel, 23 mei 2014 - Vandaag opent Mobistar haar allereerste concept store in Vlaanderen te Antwerpen onder de nieuwe naam: @Mobistar. Dit nieuwe winkelconcept wil de consument een innovatieve winkelervaring bezorgen, waarbij het accent ligt op een unieke beleving, ontdekking en service. De consument kan er een uitgebreid gamma van toestellen en toepassingen live uittesten,  zijn smartphone laten herstellen, een afspraak maken voor professioneel advies of nog informatie vragen of een probleem laten oplossen bij een medewerker van de klantendienst. De klant kan tijdens zijn bezoek aan de shop zijn gsm of smartphone veilig opladen en genieten van een koffie en gratis wifi tijdens het wachten. Bovendien is de concept store vier keer groter dan de huidige Mobistar Centers en stelt ze drie tot vier keer meer personeel te werk.

Mobistar provides charging stations for electric company cars in employees’ homes

Brussels, 22 May 2014 – Mobistar employees opting for an all-electric car won’t be paying charging costs for it anymore. In tandem with leasing company Alphabet, Mobistar is launching the AlphaElectric project, an all-in service for full electric company cars. In this way, Mobistar is facilitating and stimulating the switch to “green” company cars for its employees. The electric charging stations, which will be installed in employees’ homes, will ensure they don’t have to pay for their fuel, just like employees who have a fuel card. This makes the operator the first Belgian employer to offer this kind of environment-friendly initiative to its employees.

Mobistar takes over Colruyt Mobile prepaid customers

Brussels, 20 May 2014 – Today Mobistar has announced that the MVNO agreement with Colruyt will be terminated on 2 July 2014. Colruyt is ending its Colruyt Mobile service, and to ensure continuity of service for all Colruyt Mobile customers, Mobistar is taking over these prepaid customers.

Mobistar goes live in Brussels with 4G

Brussels - 14 May 2014. Today, telecom operator Mobistar is officially launching its 4G network throughout the territory of all 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region. Mobistar guarantees an outdoor coverage of 96 %. In addition, Mobistar is also offering in Brussels a significant coverage of 53 % inside buildings. Mobistar confirms herewith its strategy of officially opening the 4G network in new cities only when an indoor coverage of more than 50 % can be guaranteed. The quality of the 4G network in the Brussels-Capital Region will progressively improve as soon as the implementing decrees for the 6v/m standard can be implemented.
